“What is your dream wagon?” “If money was no object, which wagon would you buy?” Those are the questions that I often get asked by many folks on the Avantturous Instagram page. While I don’t quite have a dream wagon, I wouldn’t mind adding a black S212 E63 AMG to complete my wagon line up. With the MKIV Jetta Wagon serving as my daily driver and the MK7.5 Golf Alltrack serving as camping vehicle & kid hauler, all I need is a fast wagon for the weekend. Enter Blake…His S212 E63 AMG is exactly how I would want mine to look if I ever crossed that dark path to the fast wagon ownership. What’s not to like from Blake’s S212 AMG? Responsible adult drop that is aggressive, yet usable… Gold BBS LM with red center caps that really compliment the red brake calipers and the wagon’s matte paint… (And yes, that’s a factory matte paint). In short, it’s “PERFECTION.”
In addition to being a mighty fine-looking wagon, Blake’s S212 also has an interesting story on how it was acquired. Blake shared the story on how he first laid his eyes on the wagon right outside a Wahoo’s restaurant and immediately fell in love with it. He decided to leave a note on the windshield with his contact information; hoping that the owner would be interested to sell the car. It wasn’t until 3 years later when a call from the wagon’s previous owner was finally received. Though the previous owner was hesitant to sell at first, that one phone call got Blake’s old flame to start burning again. It took another couple of months before a deal was struck, but it was all worth it when Blake became a proud owner of this S212 E63 AMG.
Just like a wise man once said: “Some things are worth the wait.”
WHY A WAGON?
Always a fan of Audi’s and to be honest, just to be different and stick out. It is convenient for all my Tommy Bahama gear I take to soccer games though.
Share your unique story behind your WAGON ownership.
Found the seller at a wahoo’s and gave him my info; 3 years later he called me asking if I was still interested. Ended up finalizing 6 months later the same day COVID shut us all down which was a lil scary bc I didn’t know what would happen, but it all worked out.
Did you consider a different WAGON instead of this one?
RS6 is always on the radar, but only recently have they been available in US (other than the 2002, which I didn’t want to deal with).
What was your original objective with your car and has that objective changed?
Honestly, I just wanted a nice car to drive. My daily was my E46 M3 street/track car, which is fun, but not nice… wanted to treat myself.
What style would you say best describes your car?
I’m not a normal dad, I’m a cool dad.
Who assisted in the planning/building/modding of your car?
My boy Saeed helped me out a lot; he’s always down to wrench and diagnose issues for me. There’s not too many mods yet so I don’t really have a shop I go to; however when that day comes I’ll likely take to Benzworks in HB.
What do you feel makes your car unique/special in your eyes?
It’s the last year they had RWD and TBH there’s not too many wagons on gold BBS’s out there so there’s that.
What is your favorite part/feature/function of the car?
How quick it is for being a wagon and the handling it has when it gets a lil squirrely.
If you could pick one thing you aren’t satisfied with about your car, what would it be?
There’s new error codes every damn day. The last one was the best, it looked like my seat ejector malfunctioned. You restart and you never see the code again so it’s hard to figure out. Apparently a Benz issue, but who knows…
What has been the biggest obstacle you’ve faced while building this car?
Nothing yet, but I’m sure it will have to do with codes.
What one word best describes your car?
D*ck magnet. I swear the only ppl that say nice car are dudes and usually teenagers. Like if I go to In-N-Out or Chick-fil-A… dudes be flockin!
What is your final goal with this car?
Reliable and fast as f*ck. Ideally, I want it to sound like a supercar, but I don’t wanna deal with leaks or DMV so that’s probably out. Rear facing seats from a e550 would be sick too.
