After covering mostly European wagons, I’ve decided to keep the flow of Japanese made wagons going for this week’s blog entry. This is the 3rd Lexus IS300 SportCross to ever grace the Avantturous blog. Edgar, the owner, is always on the go with a full time career as an X-ray tech and a school enrollment on his agenda. We had planned for this photo shoot to happen early summer but kept getting postponed due to scheduling conflict.
Long and behold, that photo shoot finally took place this fall! And I must say that I am glad that the photo shoot / interview got held back because in the mean time, Edgar managed to complete the exterior of his SportCross! Starting off by acquiring Altezza Gita kit all around, adding his favorite piece of the car (ultra rare Evoluer grill), adding taillight covers and adding eyelids to his wagon. Those additions made were worth the wait as they provided a unique touch to Edgar’s IS300 Sportcross! VIP is the name of the game and to complete that status, Edgar went static LOW and added a set of WIDE chrome Weds Kranze Vishnu wheels! Interior modification is kept to a minimum with a MOMO steering wheel and OEM Altezza seat covers.
Cool wagon owned by a cool owner! Future plans include a new hood and a new paint job (possibly a color change). Edgar also mentioned that he was considering a turbo kit to add some fire power to his already cool wagon! Other than that, he planned on keeping and enjoying the wagon for as long as he could.
Introduce Yourself:
Hello, my name is Edgar and I live in Fontana, CA. I am a full time X-ray technologist at Loma Linda Hospital
WHY A WAGON?
Wagons have always caught my attention because they share the comfort of a sedan but have the extra room to carry stuff
Did you consider a different WAGON instead of this one?
I’ve always liked the IS300 SportCross but I also would like to own an Acura TL wagon one day
What was your original objective with your car and has that objective changed?
Objective for my Lexus is to keep it OEM as possible but give it a VIP look as well
What style would you say best describes your car?
I think my car would go under the VIP style
Who assisted in the planning/building/modding of your car?
My younger brother has helped me piecing this wagon together
What do you feel makes your car unique / special in your eyes?
Altezza Gita kit, cloth interior and my Evoluer grill that I just got installed
What is your favorite part/feature/function of the car?
My favorite part of the car right now would be the grill since it sets it off apart from the rest
If you could pick one thing you aren’t satisfied with about your car, what would it be?
I would want it to be a manual, but that’s for the future
What has been the biggest obstacle you’ve faced while building this car?
Deciding what color I want to go with once I’m done tracking down all my parts
What one word best describes your car?
DOPE
What is your final goal with this car?
Keep it and enjoy it for as long as I can
