Gilbert’s B8 Allroad is the second wagon that I had the pleasure to shoot in 2023. We had originally planned for an earlier shoot date, but weather and a personal matter ended up postponing the photo taking session until mid-January. Pasadena was chosen to be the location and we had set to enjoy some coffee before heading to the Rose Bowl for some photos. Little did we know, our photo shoot day was on the same day as the Rose Bowl Half Marathon! A lot of roads in Pasadena were closed to accommodate the marathon. And to make things worse, we couldn’t get coffee! Well… when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade! Though we didn’t really enjoy any lemonade since temperature was in the low 50s, we made the most of our day! From a random parking lot to Pasadena City Hall and to Colorado Street Bridge… Impromptu shoot if I may…

During the photo shoot, Gilbert and I got to chat about his Allroad ownership and how much fun he’s had since the first day of owning it. This wagon was to replace Gilbert’s Infinity that was involved in an accident. When needing a replacement, Gilbert told me “The wagon… it’s now or never.” It took Gilbert 5 months to find the perfect Allroad. Once he got his hands on it, he went straight to work by lowering it and acquiring a set of Rotiform SPF wheels. Inno roof box was then added to complete its exterior looks. The result is this head turner Allroad that you are about to see here!

Introduce Yourself:

My name is Gilbert Lujan. I am from Torrance, California and been living in the South Bay my entire life.

WHY A WAGON?

Wagons are literally the best of all worlds. If you want to stay away from SUV, then go the wagon route. I have always been into hatchbacks and wagons.

Did you consider a different WAGON instead of this one?

I truly had my eyes set at a b8 or b8.5 Allroad. To me, it’s one of the best-looking wagons on the market. The oem fender flares just hit the spot. The only other wagon I was eyeing was the Acura TSX.

What was your original objective with your car and has that objective changed?

The goal and vision were to slap some coilovers, concave wheels and a cargo box to make a daily dad mobile. Small engine mods but that’s all.

What style would you say best describes your car?

Functional clean.

Who assisted in the planning/building/modding of your car?

Shout out to my brother in-law Andrew Perez aka Drop by Drew. He has helped me in all aspects. From finding the parts to installing them. Only dude that touches my car.

What do you feel makes your car unique/special in your eyes?

I love oem plus Allroads but wanted to stand out with some aftermarket wheels and a unique cargo box.

What is your favorite part/feature/function of the car?

That it’s a wagon

If you could pick one thing you aren’t satisfied with about your car, what would it be?

Wish it came in Manual and with more power from factory. Yes, you can mod these 2.0 to make more power but Audi missed an opportunity

What has been the biggest obstacle you’ve faced while building this car?

I have not had any.

What one word best describes your car?

Clean.

What is your final goal with this car?

It’s my daily so want to keep it as reliable as possible. The future plans are to upgrade the intercooler and a tune. Just add a bit of power.
