A photoshoot this week’s AVANTTUROUS blog entry has been in the works since late 2022. Ser Michael; the owner of this B8 Allroad, and I were originally set to meet in November 2022 but an unfortunate event took place just a few days short of the planned meet up. For those who didn’t know, Ser Michael’s prized possession was involved in a hit and run accident. The wagon was down for the count for some time for the repair.
Let’s talk about Ser Michael’s wagon in details. This B8 Allroad was purchased at the peak of the pandemic and it was a high miles example (bought at 160k miles!) Luckily, Ser Michael is a mechanic by trade and he went straight to work right after the car purchase. To his surprise, the car still had many of its original factory equipped parts intact (even down to its water pump). For a peace of mind, an engine rebuild was planned. And any car enthusiasts would suggest that high miles turbocharger is an excuse for an upgrade! Focusing to build this Allroad as a driver’s car, Stage 3 Turbo was in full force! Car was then lowered and a set of Volk Racing TE37 in matte blue gunmetal finish were added to finish off the exterior. Michellin Pilot Sport 4S tires were trusted to put power down to the tarmac.
Currently sitting at over 200k miles, Sir Michael planned on adding more (s)miles and journeys with his Allroad. In order to stay active, he recently picked up a black B8 A4 Avant project to serve as his daily driver. Hopefully he can get that one running soon so we can feature another clean build by Ser Michael!
Introduce Yourself
Hello, My name is Ser Michael. I live in Los Angeles, Ca.
WHY A WAGON?
My very first car is a 2009 Audi A3 Quattro. Track/ Canyon ready but unfortunately I was in bad accident. I put a lot of time on the suspension part so the car handles like a go kart. So, having this Allroad I just had to make it feel as direct and nimble like I wanted to.
Always loved the look of a hatchback / wagons. It’s an all around vehicle, you can almost do anything when it comes to functionality or even slamming it whichever suits your style. This heavy wagon is a bit under power from factory but the tune-ability is where the car shines. A lot of people swap 3.0t from a B8 S4 or 4.2 V8 RS5 but I don’t have the time and budget to do all that. So I worked with what I have.
A 2.0T that could! Haha! It has lots of suspension parts to balance the handing section of this wagon and I think I eliminated the known understeer characteristics of this wagon. It’s really fun to drive.
Did you consider a different WAGON instead of this one?
I considered an E91 wagon. I love the style of that wagon.
Back In 2018 I found a white Allroad wrapped in matte white and loved it ever since.
The B8 Avant and B8.5 Allroad really caught my attention. I really like the b8 Audi RS4 wagon the wide body looks prefect but we weren’t lucky enough in the states. So B8.5 is flex-fuel so I knew the car has potential and bought an allroad
What was your original objective with your car and has that objective changed?
My original objective was to make it a fun car. I think I sticked to the objective lol
What style would you say best describes your car?
I’ve always been a fan of handling performance. I would say track-road on rails. It definitely shows.
Who assisted in the planning/building/modding of your car?
I bought the car with a lot of mileage for a very good price. After owning the vehicle for 2 years I told myself, When the car hits 200k miles I’ll do a full rebuild. I started buying parts July of 2021 with the help of WCAVD. We started the full rebuild on April 2022 with all Engine and suspension parts. It took us 10 Days get the car back up and running. Full engine and suspension mods. Working during the day and coming to WCAVD shop at night to work on the wagon. Everything on the engine is brand new even the smallest bolts. Huge Thank You to my Brothers at WCAVD for helping me with the build.
What is your favorite part/feature/function of the car?
I love the visibility I love the coil-over it rides buttery smooth. It’s a really nice build and I get to change the settings how I want it on the fly. So I thank silvers-suspension for doing great job with their suspension! Car feels like a go kart on rails!
What best describes your car?
The 2.0 that could
